🌿 The Benefits of Juicing
Juicing is one of the easiest ways to flood your body with concentrated nutrition.
When fruits and vegetables are juiced, the pulp (fiber) is removed, making it much easier for your body to absorb the nutrients quickly.
The amount of produce you’d need to eat to match the nutrition of one juice would be overwhelming—juicing makes it simple and efficient.
Not only that, other benefits of juicing are that fresh juices help alkalise the body, balancing your pH toward a healthier state.
And let’s not forget the wonderful side effects: clearer skin, natural weight loss, and a big boost in energy!

🥒 Choosing the Right Juicer for Your Needs

Cold Press (Slow Juicers):
If you’re juicing leafy greens like spinach, kale, celery, cucumber, or fennel, you’ll want a cold press juicer (also called a masticating juicer).
These slow machines gently crush produce, leaving a dry pulp and preserving nutrients.
👉 I personally use the Retro Cold Press Juicer, and it’s fantastic!
Centrifugal (Fast Juicers):
If your focus is mainly juicing fruits, a centrifugal juicer works better.
However, centrifugal juicers aren’t great for soft fruits or avocados, and the juice can oxidize more quickly.
NutriBullet and Blenders:
NutriBullet-style machines blend everything together—fiber and all—creating a thick smoothie rather than a true juice.
While still nutritious, it’s slower to digest and can sometimes feel heavier.
Juicing Tip:
⚡To harness the benefits of juicing, always balance fruits with vegetables to avoid high-sugar juices! A good rule is 70% veg, 30% fruit.
🍏 Easy Bases for Delicious Juices
We’ve all made “hold-your-nose” juices! Here’s how to avoid that:
- Base Ingredients: Celery, cucumber, romaine lettuce
- Add Sweetness & Zing: Apple, ginger, lemon, mint
- Leafy Goodness: Spinach, kale, spring greens
These combos make juices that are healthy and genuinely delicious.
For creamier blends, mix soft fruits like banana or avocado after juicing your greens—use a blender with a little ice for a refreshing twist!
🥤 Smoothie or Juice – What’s the Difference?
- Smoothies use the whole fruit or vegetable, are slower to digest, and usually thicker.
- Juices remove the fiber, making them easier to digest and more hydrating, leaving you feeling lighter and refreshed.
Both have their place depending on your goals!
