Fire Up Your Summer Fitness & Joy
Summer is the season of fire — of energy, movement, and joy. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, it’s linked with the heart and small intestine, both crucial to circulation and emotional vitality. And for me, it’s the perfect time to feel light, strong, and alive.
As someone with over 50 years of wellness behind me (and plenty more ahead!), I’ve adapted my summer routine to keep up with the energy of the season without pushing too hard. I shift my habits to reflect the heat, pace, and emotional openness of this time of year.
Here are my top home health habits to fire up your summer:
🔟 My Favourite Summer Wellness Habits
- Uphill walking or rowing (3–4x/week) to keep the heart strong
- Daily green juice to ease digestion and energise the body
- Light, water-rich meals – think salad, melon, cucumber, leafy greens
- Hydration, hydration, hydration – good water + mint/jasmine tea
- Dry skin brushing in the morning to boost circulation & skin health
- Breathwork: Bellows Breath for energy, Shitali for cooling down
- Emotional check-in – journaling, realigning with values
- Spiritual practice – meditation, apps, affirmations, stillness
- Yoga 5x/week – Sun Salutes + dolphin dips for strength and flow
- Joyful movement – laughter, dance, cold swims or showers
Let this season lift your spirit and energise your body. You’re never too late to feel alive. 💛
