I get by with a little help from my friend, Yoga.
The Beatles once sang about getting by with a little help from our friends….and yoga has become a friend to many more people of late.
The last (almost) two years have been tough on us all but on the positive side we’ve become adaptable, have found new ways to connect, learned new skills (especially in the technology space) and new ways to deal with the stresses that life throws at us. I’ve also noticed a greater sense of community and wanting to help others.
This year, our Seasonal Yoga Teacher Training and Yogaly 100hr foundation course will be back in person and as well as creating a wonderful teaching community, we will be supporting the wider community as our face to face sessions will be held in the amazing facilities at the Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice (PPWH). The PPWH do an amazing job for the wider community of Glasgow and this is one small way to help them continue that wonderful work.
Seasonal Yoga provides us with tools to help us deal with what life throws at us. Meditation and mindfulness to still the mind, Asanas (aka postures) to strengthen and stretch the body, to help ease the tension we hold and Pranayama to calm and soothe the nervous system. More and more health professionals are joining our courses so that they can help the people they support on an holistic level too.
Help ourselves so we can help others
At times, it can be hard to admit we need help and to receive it. It’s important to learn to help ourselves and if we need help then take the support on offer. We’re currently in winter, a time for resting and restoring and we can use our ‘yoga tools’ to help ourselves ready to emerge in the spring and bloom, just like nature does.
Yoga creates community and can help you make like-minded friends. In my classes and on my courses I see communities and friendships grow and shared energy and motivation.
It’s a joy to see.
