Ten Healthy Habits for Late Summer

it’s the thing that people always ask just give me 10 things I should do in this season that will give me more energy and let me feel better… so here it is I’m starting this season posts with a useful checklist!

This is the season for looking after the stomach, spleen, and pancreas — your digestive dream team — and for building the energy, strength, and stability you’ll carry into the colder months. These habits will help you tune into the season’s rhythm while keeping it practical, enjoyable, and doable.

1. Olive Oil Ritual
One tablespoon of high-quality, early-harvest organic EVOO (extra-virgin olive oil) first thing in the morning to gently wake up digestion and nourish your cells. this is the one I use, it’s called Aeons, I’ve been using it now for nearly a year. I really think this works for many reasons skin hair joints … the list goes on why don’t you try it?

2. Eat a Proper Breakfast
At this time of year, your digestive trio is primed and ready in the morning. A nourishing breakfast — think seasonal fruits, whole grains, or softly cooked vegetables — sets you up with steady energy for the day.

3. Dry Skin Body Brushing
Use a long-handled, firm-bristle brush to stimulate circulation, support lymphatic flow, and refresh the skin. Instructions on the next page.

4. Overnight Digestive Rest
Give your stomach a break from 7 pm to 7 am. That’s at least 12 hours of no digestion — a gift to your body. Only herbal teas or warm water allowed; no food, caffeine, or milky drinks.

5. Cook from Scratch
This is the season for natural, fresh foods. Avoid ultra-processed instant meals. Buy seasonal produce, cook simply, and let your ingredients shine.

6. Oil Pulling
A teaspoon of coconut oil swished around your mouth for a few minutes can help support gum health and oral hygiene. Spit into a tissue or down the toilet (never the sink). Healthy gums are linked to lower inflammation and better overall health.

7. Hula Hooping
Cheap, cheerful, and brilliant for your waistline and core strength. Get a slightly weighted hoop, put on good music, and have fun — it’s a workout you’ll actually look forward to.

8. Pilates or Core-Strength Classes
Now’s the time to build and maintain a strong core — it supports digestion, posture, and balance. Join a class or follow a guided routine at home.

9. Digital Sunset (Extra #1)
Switch off screens an hour before bed to improve sleep quality and reduce overstimulation. This helps your nervous system shift into the yin, restful mode late summer is moving toward.

10. Self-Worth Work
Late summer energy supports self-improvement and grounding. Look at your belief systems , download the free Late summer e-book – The Seasonal way for late Summer and you’ll see the section in there it’s Page 42 – 44 , download the book here or take time to journal about your values, achievements, and next steps. Three lines every night, what am I grateful for? What good thing has happened today? Who am I grateful to have in my life?
